Biological Dentist in St. Charles

Get to Know Dr. Ken Allen

Throughout school and into college, Dr. Allen always had an affinity for science, but he knew he wanted to have a career working with people to help them and not just be in an isolated laboratory. After a visit with his dentist his sophomore year of college, the idea of going into dentistry was sparked and then continually grew as he learned more about the profession. Today, he’s passionate about changing the way people feel about seeing the dentist one comfortable, personalized, and empowering appointment at a time.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

After graduating from St. Xavier University, Dr. Allen went on to earn his DMD from the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. He then served in the US Army, completing his residency at Fort Jackson, and gained valuable, hands-on training in a wide variety of dental specialties. He says that this period, during which he was deployed to Afghanistan, was one of the most fruitful and fulfilling times of his career.

Returning to civilian life, Dr. Allen became increasingly interested in how oral and overall health influenced each other and what role dentistry can play in this. That’s why he’s currently a member of the International Academy of Biological Dentistry & Medicine and International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology. He’s also an active member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and achieved Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry (a distinction held by less than 6% of dentists in the US and Canada).

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Most of Dr. Allen’s time outside of the office is dedicated to his three children. He enjoys attending their various sporting events and going on vacations with his family. To relax, he loves to go golfing with friends, and you’ll often find him riding his Harley when the weather is nice. Fun fact: He’s an expert snowboarder who has gone heli-boarding on glaciers in Alaska!
